Magazine Flatplan

The image above is of mine and Annabel's Flat plan of our magazine cover. We decided to create a flat plan so we have an idea of how we want our magazine cover to look like. We both created this cover the way we intend to design our cover to be, what got inspiration from the magazine 'Total Film'.

For the Mast head we decided that we wanted it really bold and big, so it was eye catching, we need it to stand out so then the audience can read it clearly. We also want it to be in uppercase letters, this will make it stand out more, and will draw the eyes in. We're thinking of using the colours that we researched into, such as black, white, red and green.

For the Sky Line we have decided on creating a black banner with then white bold writing over the top of it, white stands out very well on black so it will draw attention to the audiences eyes. We also decided that we wanted the sky line short and snappy so it's very catchy for the reader to notice, they don't want to be reading a big paragraph on the front cover of a magazine, as they want to know the best bits in the magazine. It's as if they need a little teaser and then inside it will tell more. We decided to use a questions as the sky line as it makes it more personal to the audience and will make the audience question themselves.

From our research we noticed how both the Main Sell Line and Mast Head are in the same font and style, so we have decided to interpret this into our cover, we really want a big bold font to make it stand out, just like the font 'Impact'. It looks very professional if we use the same font for each thing, as the magazine Total Film does this, and that is a very strong magazine.

To make our magazine front cover look more professional we intend to add the issue number of the magazine, the month, how much it costs, a barcode and publishing information. Since we saw all these features in professional magazine, we also decided that we need them included in our front cover to make it as professional as possible.

We have decided for the main image we want it to be a medium close up shot of our model. From our research we realised that most of the images on a front cover of a magazine look best when they are a medium close up, of their faces. The eye level is a very important part in the image as we want it to draw the audience in and feel like they are staring at them. we also want the model to have their chin pointing down and looking down into the camera as this will make them see more dominant as the audience will have to look up to them. I think this will make our magazine cover look so much more professional and stand out if it was put on a stand.
