Trailer Deconstruction

The key conventions of the trailers are:

- Voice overs to tell the story and give key information
- Actor or director titles on screen
- Sometimes titles are used to narrate points
- Conversations are usually one lines between characters
- Dramatic camera angles could be chosen for events and characters
- Action tends to build throughout the trailer
- Atmosphere is created by the type of music that is played
- The title of the film often appears at the end of the trailer
- A montage is used to select the best enticing parts throughout the film.

Trailers are often structured with the most appealing aspects of the film being shown. These are often not in the order which they are in the film. Sometimes, funny or exciting parts from the end of the film are put first in the trailer. This is so that the audience are enticed to watch the rest of the trailer and then to watch the film. Some trailers use basic narration such as dialogue from the film or a voice over to help us understand the story more before we watch the film.

The primary function of a voice over is to help us understand the story a bit more before we watch the film. It also gives us information about the characters, tells us which actors and directors are in the film, the company that made the film and often the titles which appear on screen including the release date of the film. The Sixth Sense
The above prezi is one which I made about the trailer deconstruction of the film 'The Sixth Sense' I went into detail about certain scenes in the film, such as what type of shot they were, or how it all flows together as a film.
